Stephen M. McClure

As CEO, Steve leads all aspects of The Spectrum Companies, implementing strategy, guiding team leaders, and overseeing the operations of its service lines: Asset Management, Capital Management, and Development.

A 20-year veteran of the company, Steve joined Spectrum’s commercial leasing team in 2004, then led its residential division for 10 years before being named Chief Operating Officer in January of 2017.

Steve was the key leader in forming Spectrum’s new vision to become an evergreen company and establishing our mission to “change lives by creating special places.” He is responsible for ensuring team members are aligned and focused on living our vision and mission daily.

Steve lives in Charlotte with his wife, Erin, their two children, Grace and Jack, and their dog, Bear.

Darryl B. Dewberry

As Executive Chairman of The Spectrum Companies, Darryl is responsible for ensuring the overall success of the companies, from strategic planning, growing the platform, and leading both the Executive and Investment Committees.

Darryl began his career with a national real estate syndicator, moving quickly from operations to acquisitions in Atlanta, GA. While there, he was introduced to Spectrum and joined the team in 1987, early in its history. Named CEO in 2005, Darryl was appointed as Executive Chairman in 2017 and led Spectrum’s strategic decision to initiate the Spectrum Opportunity Fund. He has played a critical role in Spectrum’s growth from startup to a regional developer of and investor in office, multifamily, and mixed-use properties.

Darryl and his wife, Connie, have been married 14 years and have four children between them. When Darryl is not working, he and Connie are involved with various charitable initiatives focused on offering individuals a hand up, making a lasting positive impact on their communities. They enjoy traveling together, especially to visit their young adult children. Darryl also enjoys golfing and spending time at the beach.

Brent E. Reel

Brent is responsible for financial reporting, accounting, project financing and risk management for owned and managed projects of the firm and its affiliates.

Prior to joining The Spectrum Companies in 2001, he was a Division Controller with American Asset Corporation in Charlotte, NC and a Regional Accountant with ClubCorp in Dallas, TX. 

Brent is from Denver, North Carolina and has lived in the Charlotte area for 20+ years. He is married with three children. He enjoys running, being outdoors, and coaching youth sports.

John M. Boylan

John is responsible for the overall success of Spectrum’s commercial portfolio, as well as developing and maintaining LP relationships.

John began his career with Spectrum in 1989 as a leasing associate in Charlotte, NC. As Senior Managing Director | Capital Management, John oversees the growth of our portfolio through acquisitions, identifying potential development opportunities, and overseeing commercial asset performance.

John and his wife, Whitney, have resided in Raleigh, NC since 1997, when John opened Spectrum’s Triangle office. He enjoys visiting his son, Mackin, in Charlotte, and golfing.

Christi Ossi

Christi oversees the property management teams of Spectrum’s Raleigh and Charlotte portfolios.

Christi has extensive experience in both the fiscal and physical management of office, medical, flex, wet and dry labs, industrial, retail, and park associations.  Under Christi’s leadership, The Spectrum Companies have won two TOBY Awards in the past 2 years. Prior to joining the firm in 1999, Christi was with Capital Associates and responsible for a mixed-use commercial portfolio.

Christi is from Northern Virginia and has lived in the Raleigh area since 1995.  She is married and has two children, Alexis and Zak.  She enjoys relaxing at Smith Mountain Lake with her family, cooking, and watching her children play lacrosse and soccer.

Jon Lassiter, CPA

Jon is responsible for managing Spectrum’s corporate financials, budgets, and forecasts, and he oversees our accounting teams at both the corporate and project levels.

Prior to joining Spectrum, he was a Staff Accountant at Charlotte-based general contractor, Rodgers. Jon joined Spectrum in 2005 as a senior property accountant and was appointed as our controller in 2008.

Jon is from Charleston, SC and has lived in Charlotte since 1998.  He and his wife, Shelley, are the proud parents of their daughter, Raegan, and Golden Retriever, Remy.

Virginia Luther

Virginia joined Spectrum in 2019.  She manages our Charlotte office and provides investment and development services to equity partners, asset management firms, building owners, and landowners across the Charlotte metro area.

J.D. McNeill

Craig Miller

Craig is responsible for the firm’s multifamily development projects throughout the Carolinas and Florida including site selection, feasibility study, design, construction, management and ultimately sale.  Prior to joining the firm in 2020, he was Executive Vice President of development for a privately-owned multifamily development firm, where he was a responsible for all aspects of multifamily development in a major U.S. market.

Jeff Duerr

Jeff is responsible for the firm’s construction projects throughout the Southeast. He coordinates with the development team to oversee construction execution with our project teams.  Prior to joining the firm, he served as Vice President for two large national general contractors, where he was responsible for client relationships and overall project delivery of commercial and multi-family projects.

Jeff is from Louisville, Kentucky and has lived in Charlotte for 23 years. He and his wife of 24 years, Angela, have twin daughters. Jeff enjoys playing soccer and traveling with his family.

Lane Stewart

Lane is responsible for helping to expand Spectrum’s Florida market presence.  With a 17-year construction background, 10 of which has been dedicated to Multifamily, Lane brings a unique skillset to the development team to assist with pursuits of new opportunities and oversees the execution of market-differentiating apartments across the Sunshine State.  Prior to joining the firm, Lane worked with two nationally recognized General Contractors, managing several noteworthy projects throughout the southeast.

Lane resides in Tampa, FL with his wife Carissa, and enjoys traveling, watching football, riding bikes, and exercising outdoors by paddle boarding, and going low on the golf course.

Kelly Manley

Michael Simmons

Michael is responsible for the firm’s multifamily development projects in the Carolinas. He manages all aspects of the development process from sourcing new opportunities, capitalization, design, execution, leasing, and disposition. Prior to joining Spectrum in 2021, Michael worked for Southeast-focused multifamily development firm as well as a large family office with a diversified real estate investment strategy.

A native of Mississippi, Michael has lived in the Carolinas for over a decade. He and his wife, Roland, have two sons and enjoy spending time together outdoors at the beach or in the mountains.

Al Kelly

Al joined the Spectrum Companies in 2018. He is responsible for underwriting and asset management of multifamily and office acquisition and development opportunities throughout the Carolinas and Florida. He also helps raise project-level debt and equity while supporting the investor relations team. Prior to joining Spectrum, he worked in commercial real estate lending in the Carolinas. Al received his BA in Finance & Economics from Wofford College.

Caroline Grier

Caroline is responsible for client relationships within the Spectrum Opportunity Fund and supporting the executive team on all special projects, organization, and employee initiatives.

Caroline handles investor communication for Spectrum Capital Management, including the oversight of reporting and documentation for quarterly reports, distributions, and capital calls. Her direct collaboration with the CEO entails the execution of critical company initiatives and the facilitation of daily operational activities.

Caroline lives in nearby Plaza Midwood with her husband, two children, and dog. Beyond her professional pursuits, she has a passion for travel, cherishing quality time with her family, and is a devoted fan of the Carolina Panthers.

Carly Hawkins

Ms. Hawkins is responsible for marketing across all service lines of commercial real estate.

She leverages 17 years of graphic design and marketing experience to contribute to the team’s success. Her role encompasses various aspects of corporate and project marketing, including crafting leasing and marketing strategies, developing compelling RFPs and pitches, corporate and property branding, and enhancing the organization’s digital presence. Her industry knowledge, strategic thinking, and commitment to delivering results are all vital part of the collaborative effort that drives The Spectrum Companies’ success.

Throughout her career, Ms. Hawkins has been part of rebranding efforts for four companies. She also served as the Charlotte marketing lead for Cushman & Wakefield, where she played a key role in creating offering memorandums and pitches.

Ms. Hawkins is from the Finger Lakes area of New York.  She has lived in Charlotte since 2007 and loves being involved in the city’s growth and development story.
